I’m Joshua Morott. I come from the Fourth District, and I have lived the damage a broken system can do to a family.
Seven years ago my marriage ended. What followed was not a clean split. Family court evicted me from our home. My insurance and realtor licenses were suspended after unpaid arrears piled up through hurricanes, shutdowns, and a legal process I could not afford. I was arrested more than once for trying to see my own children. Parental alienation kept me from my son and daughter for years. The system did not protect that bond. It priced it, delayed it, and treated a father’s persistence as a problem.
I refused to disappear.
Too many working parents know this machine: endless fees, a court that can bankrupt you for the right to be a parent, and almost no serious attention to how children actually attach to both mother and father. When those bonds are cut, the damage does not stay in one house. It follows the child into adulthood.
In 2024 I ran for Congress with almost no money, no staff, and no endorsements. I built the campaign myself and earned 43,000 votes. I am running again for the Fourth District because the people crushed by these systems should not have to beg Washington to notice. I am also weighing a run for governor of Louisiana. Same fight. Bigger map. No timeline until the groundwork is real.
Priorities
• Family court reform: cap total court and lawyer fees in custody cases at $10,000, and require courts to weigh attachment science and a child’s need for both parents
• A strong Parental Rights Amendment
• Real support for working families and veterans
• Education reform that puts parents first
• An end to wasteful spending and government overreach
This is not politics as usual. It is a demand that the law stop destroying families and start defending the people it was written to serve.
